Opportunities of structural change
September - October 2020
Since the beginning of the gradual phase-out of hard coal mining, North Rhine-Westphalia has been undergoing a far-reaching structural change. In this context, the recently decided phase-out of lignite mining poses major challenges for the mining regions in North Rhine-Westphalia. Together with leading experts, alumni and students, we discuss the upcoming transformation process of an industrial region into a sustainable economic region of international importance for research and industry.
The event took place on five Tuesdays in September and October 2020. The program consisted of various contributions, presentations, discussions and interactive elements. The publication "Opportunities for Structural Change - New Perspectives for NRW," which was produced as part of the series of events, summarizes the content of the digital themed series.
