M1 | Trilogy for Dortmund (10th Schlaun Competition)

This year's 10th Schlaun Competition is entitled "Trilogy for Dortmund". It deals with three formerly prosperous quarters of Dortmund, some of which are to be incorporated into the regionally organised International Garden Exhibition 2027 in the future:

The partial task for architects includes the area of the Dortmund wholesale market in the Kronprinzenviertel. The Dortmunder Großmarkt was built around 1952 on the site of the former Dortmund-Süd railway station and was structurally adapted to the changed functional requirements during its period of operation. A multi-storey residential development is requested that meets today's requirements for a mix of uses. Shops for basic daily needs are desired. The sub-area to be replanned covers 22.3 ha.

As part of the M1 project work in winter semester 21/22, the students will develop a future-oriented design for the quarter on the wholesale market site based on the competition task. In addition to the competition tasks, additional in-depth content will be developed, depending on the size of the group. The competition site will be visited on an excursion and then analysed as a seminar supplement.

Registration for the Schlaun competition is obligatory for participation in the course and for receipt of the documents.
