One of the architect's tasks is to estimate construction costs in order to create planning security for a building project. Cost determination and economic feasibility studies thus represent an important basis for construction.

But how do architects determine the costs for their designs? How is the economic viability of a building assessed? And at what point are the costs of a property fully recovered?

As part of the elective module "Fundamentals of Real Estate Economics" in WS 21/22, students deal with area calculations, cost estimates and profitability calculations. Building on an introduction to the subject and lectures on individual modules, students will delve deeper into the content and calculations based on an existing design work. The results are compiled in written form and clearly presented as part of a term paper.
