M2.1 | Urban neighbourhood building blocks
Due to the high demand for residential space in the Aachen urban area, combined with a low supply of space, a change of use and urban redevelopment of a 50,000 m² site in Aachen-Richterich, currently used for commercial purposes, is being sought. A possible urban development concept has already been drawn up as part of an initial feasibility study. Within this new urban development figure, the students are designing a mixed-use, urban and future-oriented construction phase.
