Winter semester 2022/21

The building industry is facing an indispensable change. The increasing degree of urbanisation and new developments such as greater e-commerce are leading to a completely new image of our cities. On the one hand, more and more retail spaces are empty and largely unused. On the other hand, there is an enormous housing shortage in the major cities of our country, which leads to overpriced purchase and rental prices in view of the market equilibrium. In addition to economic aspects, however, it is also necessary to consider ecological change. With 38% of global CO2 emissions, the building and construction sector contributes significantly to the climate crisis. Together with leading experts and students, we will talk about and discuss new approaches and ideas for tackling these aforementioned challenges as part of the "iNSPIRE" lecture series.

The lecture by Kristof Schmid, project developer at Swiss Life Asset Managers, on the topic of "Purpose of Real Estate - social project development" will take place digitally on Tuesday, 30.11.2021 from 10-11.30 am.

Students will receive the access data for the online event as part of their course. In addition, interested students can register at jana.heinemann@ipe.arch.rwth-aachen.de.
