September - October 2020

Since the beginning of the gradual phase-out of hard coal mining, North Rhine-Westphalia has been undergoing a far-reaching structural change. In this context, the recently decided phase-out of lignite mining poses major challenges for the mining regions in North Rhine-Westphalia. Together with leading experts, alumni and students, we discuss the upcoming transformation process of an industrial region into a sustainable economic region of international importance for research and industry.

The event will take place in the form of a digital topic series on five consecutive Tuesdays in September and October 2020. The programme consists of 30 to 45-minute contributions and is made up of key notes by various speakers, discussions and interactive contributions.

In addition, interested participants are invited to actively shape the programme with their own contributions in poster sessions or project presentations. Please send your contribution request to .
